schrodinger's Docking Port

Recommended Posts

On a career trip to Minmus, I cannot get my lander/ship to separate docking ports.

Staging the port activated with no effect. Right click > undock had no effect other than removing the option from the window.

and now I'm left with:

Alas, even more destructive means of forcing detachment go unsuccessful:

(Fully Developed spin - hoping to cause some sort of shear force through the connection. No, that double adaptor does not connect to both science pods :\ )

Tried exiting to KSC and back - nothing.
Tried restarting KSP - nothing.
Tried x64 KSP - nothing .

Even sent an engineer on EVA on the odd hope something might happen - unfortunately, nothing.

Any suggestions from here?

Only running Mechjeb.

I have no reasons to why this is happening but the same exact thing happened to me when I tried to land on Minmus. But the biggest clue to a bug is is that this only happens at Minmus...

Yeah it's an annoying one. Since I'm running career, didn't want to waste the launch costs so I launched a small probe to ferry up science data from the surface which is then received by my scientist in orbit.. Crude, but it works...

by the way, half of your forward and rear RCS ports are blocked by those RCS tanks, you'll get more translational thrust if you move them out of the way, right now you're just wasting RCS fuel when you fire them.  Likewise, all those quads around your Docking ports are masked by the hulls of the CM and Lander, and your CM hatch appears to be blocked by a battery.

Are you sure you can obstruct RCS nozzles?? Sometimes I clip them completely inside of tanks and they still work just fine.

This goes well with KSPs non-occlusion policy LOL like stuff producing drag in cargo bays etc, but I'd love to stand corrected on this one.
