Suggestion: Make wheels act like wheels instead of round sleds.

Redownloaded KSP after months of waiting for real wheel fixes.. made aircraft... skated around KSC for 2 minutes. Played with wheel traction.. skated more..  Uninstalled... it's Still crap. We don't need wheels that slide sideways. You may now all get mad at me for being irritated. Enjoy.

Oh, AIFAIK the wheels are still sleds, not real wheels. Made a rover that fills fully within frame of 4 ruggedized wheels, so no matter which way you flip it, wheels are the only thing that touches the ground. It should still drive normally if it does a wheelie and flips over - wheels still rotate in the same direction, turning left still has the inner sides of left wheels turn towards the body - I call it ambiupperous.

Nope, the upper face of the wheels is purely decorative, Only their bottoms provide propulsion.

Didn't work in 1.0.3, didn't work in 1.1.3, will it work in 1.2?

IRL wheels slide sideways under certain conditions.  I'm sure there are people that would speak out on both sides of this argument, so "We" you do not speak for.  This has got the potential to be a popcorn thread so let me walk the line and dig out an interesting post from May 2015 by @Murph which may shed some light on why wheels are sleds and not wheels:

Like I said, they're not-wheels. They have always been not-wheels and all the ongoing wheel related drama, since day-one, is due to this over-simplified single-point wheel simulation.
Wheel is not a wheel -> re-invent wheel.
Physics sim is not realistic enough -> fix physics sim.
Reliance on unity builtins / third-party plugins limits functionality -> write better unity plugin.
