Controlling drones when out of signal range from kerbin? LOS trying to rotate hinges. 1 min video explanation

I'm stumped as to how I'm supposed to do this sort of thing in 1.2 since probes need connection. What is it that I'm missing?

 

I'd love any help I can get on this. It's becoming a big issue in my upcoming project.

Stick an antenna on the hinge part that decouples. But that's in the VAB. For your thing on Laythe, besides deactivating the comm system, I don't see any solution.

Never thought about that problem before :/ Frustration foreseen.

Edit: oh you actually already have antennae on the decoupled part. The two should be connected then, don't really known what's going on anymore.

Edit2: since you seem to be able to control the decoupled part (stage and throttle up), could it be a simple lack of reaction wheels?

It's not lack of reaction wheels :/ - It works extremely well on Kerbin, even in flight.
