MK2 cockpit definitely need the airspike to control the heat

It has been fixed in the most recent 1.2 pre release.  With a shock cone or aerodynamic nose cone this plane could get beyond 1650 m/s.  Other tests here:  http://imgur.com/a/Kyfvm

The magic antenna is still working for me in 1.2, at least for the critical case of preventing the Mk2 cockpit from exploding.  However they have tweaked aero in other ways (documented in the pre-release changelogs) so if you're seeing different max speeds, it might not be related to the antenna at all.
