mattig89ch
I\'ve heard of a few people putting rovers on the mun, and the second orbital body (can\'t remember the name). But I\'ve been wondering, how do you make a rover with the default parts? Or are they talking about mods?I\'m up to date, but I don\'t see any parts that would make a rover.
Melfice
They\'re probably talking about mods. While you could construct a rover-ish vehicle with the RCS parts, it\'s not a proper rover.Go have a search for the Cart mod, over in 'Plugin-Powered Addon Releases', that\'ll get you started out. Although, I don\'t think it\'s been updated for 0.16 yet.

mattig89ch
cool, thanks.man, landing on the mun is hard. harder then the videos on youtube made it look.
A Fat Pokemon
I use stock parts, and it is actually very easy.. I usually have 1 fuel tank, 2 rcs tanks, and wings on the sides and I place my wheels on those, it works pretty well. 8)
TheKerbinator
When I use a rover constructed from the stock parts (landing gears) on the surface on the Mun, the landing gears clip through the surface when I\'m driving up a hill and the parts explode when they touch the surface. mattig89ch
I acually managed to make it to the mun, but I didn\'t land so much as fall onto the 4 wheels. used the smallest engine to run around. managed to run up a hill, got airborne for a few seconds then went into a nose dive into the ground.Edit: just to be clear, it took me 2 hours, and 6 loading quick saves to just hit the surface and survive.heres a quick question. Is jet fuel, superior to rocket fuel? it seems lighter, but i\'m not sure jet fuel cans contain the same amount of fuel that rocket fuel cans do. Minty_Fresh
Iff you want, you can cheat your way to the mun/minmus by doing this code ctrl+shift+alt+D
simplemunrockets
It takes practice. Eventually it\'s second nature.
mattig89ch
yea, but wheres the fun in cheating? I wanna be able to build a rocket that\'ll take me anywhere I wanna go. Hence my question on whether jet fuel was better then rocket fuel. Since jet fuel is lighter, I might be able to gain more altitude on my first stage, then use the second stage to run around the solar system, use my third stage to land, and the final to get me back home. But then, it doesn\'t really help me if I don\'t get the same amount of fuel per can. Although the jet fuel tanks are lighter, they contain less fuel than the small rocket fuel tanks. As for Mun Rovers with sock parts, I have made several successful rocket/RCS powered ones. They do however lack good suspension, thus they don\'t usually handle well at surface speeds above ~12m/s, and require careful piloting to avoid flipping and breaking. I don\'t think i\'m re-inventing the wheel here. from what i\'ve seen (on youtube mind you) its pretty standard.Currently trying to sort out the other stanges...
