i dont know one for SPECIFICALY Ksp but i know one that will be fine for it , btw i use it

if you have Windows 10 there's a game recorder that comes with it

To activate it

1- Launch the game

2- Press G+ The windows Button

3- Enjoy

Avoid the built in game recorder included with Windows as it is low res no matter what settings you use

Get OBS

Open Broadcaster Software (aka OBS)

it's FREE cross-platform open-source and works really well once you figure out how to configure it properly.

by default, it outputs streams in AVI format, but you can change it to MP4 if you wish, but it's not quite obvious how to do it; you have to change the output filename mask, there's a youtube video that shows you how.

Well last time i recorded with it it had medium res it wasn't high or low :P

I think the W10 built in recorder maxes out at 720P30FPS. Same as the PS4 and XBoxOne built in game recorder.

Personally I use NVidia Shadowplay, Though it requires a GTX600 series or higher NVidia card to use, but it is free. My GTX1070 allows me to record at up to 4K60FPS with minimal to no noticeable performance loss. If you don't have the required hardware for Shadowplay OBS would be your best option for free recording software.

For your own use, you can do whatever you want.

If The Space Dino wants to put videos on YouTube or some other public site, then there's an audience to consider.

Recorded my 1920x1200 screen @ 1728x1080 in mp4 format

Example: Knocking our tourists

PS: About 20 minutes before video will be available for watching.

PPS: I should probably try nVidias Shadowplay at some point.

If you have an nvidia GTX 600 or higher GPU I highly suggest using Shadowplay/Share, it barely impacts performance and can record with high quality even when the bitrate is low.

You can use desktop recording mode to record KSP with it but I recommend using the hotfix to gain performance and quality (this may also be true for other recording software):

You an also use nvidia's hardware accelerated encoder via OBS, it's more flexible but requires some fiddling around with the settings.

Does any of you guys has that problem when OBS records the first frame of the video and then it stays like that for the rest of the recording? Maybe there's something wrong with the settings or my pc is bad?
