1.2 Unable to switch to requested resolution

Hello, my game has not been loading ever since i built a new computer, when I try and launch the game an error message comes up that says

 Switching to resolution 1920x1080 failed, trying lower one
Switching to resolution 1920x1080 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: could not switch resolution (1920x1080 fs=1 hz=60)

 

KSP Version: 1.2, 1.1.3

What Happens: Game fails to launch

Mods / Add-Ons: Stock

Steps to Replicate: Launch game

Result: Error and Windows dialogue box

Fixes/Workarounds: Launch with CKAN (As i said, no mods, i misclicked but it worked.

 

Any help is appreciated.

I had this problem in the past, and the only way I could fix it was by doing some registry editing.  Sadly I don't remember offhand exactly what key needed to be manipulated, but it was something regarding fullscreen.

You can likely launch regedit, and search for either KSP or Kerbal and it should point you to the right set of keys.  From there locate whatever one is regarding 'fullscreen' and toggle it from 0 to 1, or 1 to 0.


Alternatively, I was able to -sometimes- work around it by launching KSP from the launcher in the KSP directory -- it seems to use a different config set when launched from the launcher as opposed to through the .exe or through Steam.
