  1. 1. Have you given in to the temptations of mods?

    • Yes. I love mods!
    • Not really, I never really delved into mods.

    • No, I hate mods!

The idea that I could play stock KSP without any of the stresses caused by mods has entered my head a few times, but then I think "I'll just keep that one mod with that cool part I like" then I think "And that other mod that adds that interesting mechanic" then "Oh and theres no reason to go without lifesupport", rinse, repeat, conclusion: I could *never* go modless. I think I ran the game once when I first downloaded it (this was back with v.0.20 IIRC), to check it ran at all, and the first mod was installed minutes later, never looked back.

Sometimes I wish I could, but that is just a pipe dream :)

Normal setup is:

- MJ for automation of boring tasks.
- KER for design and in-flight display.
- KAC for keeping track of planned or on going (long) flights.
- MM for dependencies.
- EVA Struts for station construction.
- EVA Transfer for re-fuelling stranded crafts.
- IndicatorLights for finding those pesky ports or hatches in the dark.
- [x]Science and/or AutomatedScienceSampler for boring science/biomes hunts.

And latest gem:
- Portrait Stats for keeping track of gawkers and their travelling plans.

I may never update to 1.2 for one simple reason: 60 mods that I treasure.

1.13 is fully functional and the mods add so much depth and breadth to the game and allow me to play it exactly how I want to play it. I would be silly to update until most or all of them are updated to 1.2.

Care to share that list? I've played KSP about a year ago and trying to get back in, but kinda lost in the options (especially now that i'm discovering that not all mods have their 1.2 updates yet)

Until stock has a delta-v readout and some tools to help plan interplanetary transfers, I consider it beta and will use mods to fill in the missing parts at the bare minimum.

Usually I pack in planets and parts, although I'm starting to aim for a lighter mod loadout in order to make my KSP careers not last forever... On the whole, I like the idea of a game that ends, so's I can then start afresh with new and different things in it.

I can play the game without mods. Heck I did for like a month on the 1.2 prereleases (and all my playtime before 1.2 too actually......)

Right now though, I'm basically just running KER for dV & TWR readouts (yea I know dV still isnt 100% accurate with the new fuel lines) & SVE with scatterer & all that to make Kerbin look a hell of a lot prettier (dat water doe.) Also running Chatterer to add some sound effects to the game. Thats pretty much the extent of my modding for now.

The general rule around here though seems to be the longer you play the game the more mods you add on, so I'm sure I'll be installing more as I go along.

Sure thing. Let me grab a screen cap or three for ya . . . be right back . . .

Just doing searches on names you see for those directories should give you a bead on 90% of the ones I use. I believe there are a small number which wind up getting packaged into a parent directory, so they might be "hidden" in this screen cap. But that screen cap should cover most of them.

Worth noting: it took me quite a while to iterate to this list, so I'm not planning on abandoning it for 1.2 for quite some time!

My initial set was about twice as large, and while I enjoyed nearly all the additional mods, I found that various negative effects (mostly performance issues) compelled me to prune the list several times. On my rig, this particular set performs reasonably well: loading times are a bit longish compared to stock (well, 2 minutes instead of 20 seconds so, considerable! from a mathematical standpoint, but not out of bounds from a user experience standpoint), and there is some lag, and some evidence of software aging (probably memory leaks taking place). But all tolerable.
