Stuck loading 1.2 on Windows 7

Recommended Posts

I am stuck at the "Loading Asset Bundle Definitions"

Running the application from Steam I have Verified the integrity of the Game Cache and no problems were found. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. There are no mods installed.

I have tried launching the 32bit and 64bit applications and both hang at approximately the same part of the loading bar.

This is all odd because last weekend the application started just fine, but this weekend the issue started. There have been no hardware or software changes on the computer.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: The game did finally load, but the load time was extremely long, about 20 minutes. Normal load time used to be much less. Any ideas why the load time would have increased so much?

Hi @ToInfinityAndBeyond, if you are using logmein/hamachi or similar software that creates virtual network adapters, you will find that KSP takes much longer to load, this is a known issue with the Unity3D game engine.

If you are not using such software please see the thread here.

We'll need more information to figure out what's going on.

Neither of those programs is installed or used on this computer.

KSP version 1.2.0.1586 (WindowsPlayer x64)

Screenshot of where the program hung the longest. The entire loading process was very slow.

Description of problem above. You can see the time it took to load in the KSP.log file text time stamps. Other programs load normally, from Steam or from their executables.

Well. the only thing known to cause this on Windows is having extra network adapters, the Unity3D engine will try to locate the game assets on those adapters and takes time before it gives up and tries the next one.

Your pastes are private so I can't see them, but what I need is to see what other software you are running.

Sorry about that. I have changed the pastes to unlisted.

Thanks, but unfortunately they don't reveal an issue, which would be the case when hamachi is used.

Please try disabling any unnecessary software, and if the issue persists please post screenshots of the taskmanager processes, I might recognise something that can cause this.

Solution: Right-click on the KSP .exe and select "Run as administrator". Windows 7 doesn't like loading the KSP files from the Program Files folder for some reason.

That'd be because KSP needs write access, which it wouldn't have if the player unzipped KSP to Program Files, though it usually causes other problems than this.

However, the install in this case is via Steam, which adds the correct registry entries to Windows to allow KSP to write to Program Files, this is in the KSP.log

[LOG 11:55:45.322] AssemblyLoader: Loading assembly at E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData\Squad\Plugins\KSPSteamCtrlr.dll

It's still worth a try at this point though.

I have tried this before the original post. Issue is still occurring. Seems like everyone is stumped on this one.
