[Writing] The Kerbal Way

Was going to wait until I had some Photoshop art to go along with this, but my computer has suffered a massive power loss (very Kerbal), so I thought I\'d go ahead and post it.

Without further adieu:

The Kerbal Way

Within the folds of fire the flames ensue

A crowned knot of crimson hue

The surly bonds broken by passion\'s due

All knowledge gained, all strength renewed.

For what be gained by ignorant stand?

Save blindness of mind across the land.

But where courage reigns, all things withstand

Not even death can claim his hand.

Across the void, the chariot rides,

Where secrets abound, and mysteries hide

And down she comes in glorious pride

Settles gently, then falls and slides.

When the chariot of life breaks apart

Bravery abound, courage his art,

Jeb surveys quickly the broken parts

And still prevails his mighty heart.

'Yearn free, my brothers two!

'Of hope and courage, do not eschew,

'Forsooth a danger summons you

'Yet still we live, though our sources few!'

'Make haste, our repairs! Loot and plunder

'With skill repair above and under!

'Steadfast, make sail, and forget our blunder!

'Let no Kerman be rent asunder!'

Sweeping wide his arms for all to see

The ruin of the rocket on the Munar sea

And with a grin, a wink, and a certain glee,

Added, 'After all, how hard can rocket science be?'

With diligence, their strength renewed,

Courage braved, despair eschewed

With duct tape and staple, gum and glue

They strove to make their chariot anew.

On the column of flame, their rocket flared

Shuddering to life and trembling to dare.

Jeb meets Death\'s gaze with laughing stare

While Bill and Bob tremble in frightened scare.

Across the chasm the rocket streaks and moans

Impatient to taste the sea and Kerbin\'s loam.

A wink and a nod, and a playful tone,

Jeb cries out, 'Boys, we\'ll make it home!'

In death and life, none may say

The courage of Jeb lacks a way

Yet one thought remains by the end of the day:

Such things are the Kerbal Way.

Don\'t normally write rhymed poetry (I generally abhor it), but a couple of phrases came to me one evening, and I couldn\'t get it out of my head.

I figure it would be kind of cool as a sort of 'Twas the Night Before Xmas' -style picture book. Any cartoonists interested? ;P
