the next big step... life/story mode?

Now, we have a complete comm system, a stable orbit space station , we can build our own space base on Mun and we have a lot really cool SSTO ! 

But space is really huge, i think if we can find some ancient artifact about Kerbals/Aliens , learn the history about them . Or finding other lifes include the cell form / Ancient DNA , digging some ancient fossil , it'll be really cool! 

Also we already have a lot of easter eggs in game, some of them just like ancient building of kerbals . We can use them to build a "Story" !

What do you guys think?

Making a past history of Kerbin and Kerbalkind based on what is in KSP is certainly doable, though can't see it as a game development. Maybe something to be done in KSP Fan Works?

Sure I wouldn't see anything of a "story" we have to play within KSP, e.g. redoing space missions in exactly one way because "history has them that way". Being free to experiment and decide is one of the great things about the game and better kept that way.

TBH I don't think KSP should have any deeper story to it. It's a pure sandbox game in which you write your own history of spaceflight.

If there's ever going to be a sequel/prequel (Kerbal Aircraft Program?) to KSP I think the story mode should be left for that one. Akin to how IL-2: 1946 had a few pilot careers in which there were diaries and certain tasks to be performed. I still play and enjoy that game even though it's pretty old.
