Pseudo-multiplayer: A Board of Achievement

Recommended Posts

I've had this concept bouncing around my head for a while now, and decided to share it with all of you for your opinions  on it.

There is an in-game 'economy' with two parts: A statistics board that keeps track of general mission/agency statistics, and a board of achievement against each agency set by players for competing against each other in career saves.

  • Statistics board: What this scoreboard would do is let people see which companies are the most used and why.
    • A board that shows all 27 Agencies in KSP, and a couple of un-biased statistics gathered on each of them from player missions. It's a list of information gathered from the culmination of all saves/missions in hard mode career.
      • Market share - a percentage of how often an agencies parts are used on a mission
      • Failure percentage - a percentage on how often an agencies parts are on a mission that fails
      • Average mission length - how long an average mission is that uses an agencies parts
      • etc

  • Board of achievement: This would let you compete against other players in a race to the top of each scoreboard.
    • At the beginning of a hard mode career save, a player chooses one of the 27 agencies to "sponsor". Everything that the player does in that save is counted towards that agencies board of achievement.
      • Kerbin land speed record
      • Heaviest launch
      • Mission count
      • SPH to VAB percent
      • KIA count
      • Highest air breathing flight
      • Longest air breathing flight
      • Bodies visited - Total count of planets visited
      • Visits to [X]
      • Anomalies visited
      • Ore consumed
      • etc

That's interesting. The only problem I see here is it doesn't really influence the game that much and the effort needed to implement all this would probably be quite big.

So there would be these 27 agencies. People start as freelancers. Once they get enough rep they can choose to join an agency. Now once they work for one of the agencies they are able to design missions for other agencies (maybe they should also get some sort of payment if they create a contract once a week, or something like that). They decide how much they want to pay for the completion of the contract they have just created and once all the objectives are completed (by someone else) the vessel appears in their game. From now on it's theirs and they can control it, because they paid the price.

I just came up with this but I think I'd enjoy it actually.
