Can't put data in MPL

I always used to be able to put data in the Mobile Processing Lab, but now the 'science beaker' button is always disabled, even on crafts that used to work. I removed all mods but still the problem persists. I'm sure I'm overlooking something simple, but can't figure out what.

Maybe the MPL is already processing a copy of that same data - i.e. same experiment, same biome?

No, first visit to Eve and first attempt to store data

Strange. Is the lab full of data already? You can check by right-clicking the part, near the top of the menu it should say something like "Data: xxx/yyy", yyy is the maximum amount. If it's nearly full, you'll have to wait till it's processed.

Or maybe it was a problem with a mod you removed, but it caused the problem on the part anyway, so it persists. Try making a new ship, and using the cheat menu to put it in orbit of Eve? Then, if that fails, the same thing on a new save? Otherwise I don't know, wait a little and some other user may have a better answer to your problem.

Do you have a scientist inside the MPL? You can't process anything until you have one in there. Can't just be on the same ship anymore. (Or out on EVA )

Lab is completely empty. I tried a new ship and a new save, but the button stays disabled

I have 2 level 2 scientists on board, but I don't get up to the point where I can process; I can't get the data in

Getting the data in is what the lab calls "processing". "Researching" is what you do after the data is in. Can you open the context menu of the MPL, take a screenshot, and post it here please?

Only when preparing that screenshot I noticed my 2 scientists weren't in the MPL like I was sure they were. After transferring them everything worked fine again and I'm happily processing data now. Like I said: I was overlooking something simple.
