How to get Jeb Bob and Bill back?

I cleared the pad with them on it not knowing it would take them away. I\'ve cleared the pad 10+ times now but they won\'t come back! :\'(

Is there a way I can get them back?

Funny thing, every time I clear the pad with some Kerbals on it they come back the very next mission I use the craft file that they were flying when they were cleared. Not sure what\'s up with your game.

I lost mine last night due to an accident (it wasn\'t my fault, I swear!) and I couldn\'t get them back. But when I got up this morning, they were back. Didn\'t do anything special.

go to your ksp directory. Look for the persistant file. Delete it, or open it and look for the bob bill and jeb.

They should reappear when you delete the entrys.

If you delete the file, your gameworld will efectively be reset

Yeah, I accidentally made Bob explode. Now I\'ve just got Bill, Jeb and Random Greyshirt.

Works out pretty well for dangerous EVAs to work out the jetpack controls (which I have yet to get any semblance of competancy with).....I just send out Ensign Greyshirt and about 30% of the time he might come back.

Note: This is with version .22 of the game, campaign mode has been added and all other features too.

I know this is kind of dredging up this old thread but I just wanted to make this note in case anyone else runs into the same problem. So I've been playing a lot lately and had no problem with losing my crew mates Jeb Bob and Bill, until just last night when Jeb was added to the wall of MIA after a failed landing attempt on Duna. I was stunned, that had never happened before and refreshing the game didn't seem to fix it either.

Long story short if you want to bring back a Kerb this is how you do it. You will need a compiler called Notepad++ (but it may work with normal notepad, the script just has to be readable and editable). At the bottom of the Persistent.sfs file you would find a list of your crew mates and available recruits. If any of your crew has a 'State' equal to '3' that means they are listed as MIA. Changing the state to 0 will return them from the dead!

In no way, in any way, is Notepad++ a "compiler". Other than that, yes this does work.
