Why are the feet on my landing gear inverted?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, searched and didn't find.

So I have this science vessel lander, it's supposed to be able to hit two biomes per launch on the Mun (more on Minmus) before returning to kerbin:

Notice that the landing gear appears to behave correctly in the VAB.

When I get into space, the landing gear does something funny:

Whaaaa? I thought it might have something to do with facing, some of my components are upside-down and others are manually rotated afterwards (I was experimenting with an appollo-like dedicated lander stage that needed a stack separator and had to do an in-space rearrangement to get all the pieces aligned properly). But I flipped the one piece I know is backwards (the fuel tank for the lander engine) and nothing changed.

Thoughts? I can actually land like this it's just annoying and comical.
