Huh?? First flyby of the sun?

I rescued a Kerbal about halfway to the Mun.  I have already orbited both moons, I didn't go that far out.  Why did I get an achievement for orbiting the sun?

And why was I given a Kerbal rescue contract in solar orbit a while back when all other contracts at the time were in Kerbin orbit?

 

Edit:  Nevermind.  I found my flyby of the sun--I've got a parachute heading for the stars at .63c.  It sure got hot, it's been out there for a while and it was still over 1200K when I switched to it.

Kracken bait or do I let it go?

Let it go, I think. Kraken don't bother with parachutes.

I was just worried about what happens when it gets a few light years out there.

Nothing, AFAIK. Kerbol has no heliopause.

There was a bug to do with objects escaping kerbol and causing kraken chaos,  I'd get rid to be on the safe side.

My guess was that something was thrown into solar orbit by the Mun, 
Fly by and orbit the sun is the same for achievements.

Yeah, I had some memories of bugs related to far-out objects.  That's why I asked.

Did you not read my edit to my post?

No gravity well encounter would have boosted it to relativistic velocity.  This was a glitch.

Loren Pechtel,

 I believe you are safe from the kraken so long as you don't focus on the object. Nevertheless, I'd delete that piece of debris just out of general principle.
