Reaction wheels

SAS only means the reaction wheel will be used by SAS when active, but WASD controls (or whatever keys you have set) won't use that reaction wheel. Pilot only means WASD will use it, but SAS won't. Normal means both SAS and your inputs will use it.

 

And yes, adding more reaction wheels will increase how much torque you have available, but with the exception of the Mk3 cockpit and the Mk2 drone core, orientation doesn't matter and the wheel will act in all 3 axes equally.
