Hello - New to KSP

Hi everybody.   I just picked up KSP over the holidays and am happily watching youtube videos, working my way through the tutorials and my first career.  I've managed to kill all my pilots, but am having a good time.

This game is very deceiving,  I came across KSP about a year ago and dismissed it.... not sure why.  I then started seeing it on Steam and decided to give the demo a try.  I was hooked and purchased the full game and have logged about 20 hours in a few days, which is a lot of computer time for me.

I will do my best to search for answers before posting lots of newbie questions.  Thanks for help in advance.

Greetings @BentRim and welcome to the forums.

I am also a kerbalholic.

It's probably best to post newbie questions as version changes mean old info is probably out dated.  Also the questions you might ask are likely questions many new players would ask and therefore meaningful to players just starting out and forum guests.  Even experienced players can find inspiration or useful advice when reading through these threads due to the input of the excellent community members that have a far better understanding of the game than I ever will.

I hope your KSP journey is as rewarding as mine has been and always remember:

Hello, @BentRim, and welcome aboard!

I have to agree with what James Kerman said. Except for a few overall guides, most of the specifics in the game have changed at one point or another. You'd do better posting in the Gameplay and Tutorials subforum.

Thanks to all for the welcome.

I did not realize that there had been a recent update to the game,  which explains why many of the things I am reading don't match what I see on the screen.   I have been watching a few of the Scott Manley videos as well as some others and that has been very helpful.

Having been around internet forums since the usenet days,  I generally try to be respectful and not ask questions that are easily found, but at the same time I see the point of engaging in dialouge and helping others learn as well.  Once I get a better feel for the game and where to post, I certainly will ask specific questions as they come up.  You never know the general tone of a forum until you have been around a bit.

I really enjoy the mechanics of the game and look at career mode as puzzles I would like to solve rather than just having someone give me the answer.  I can see that science is more and more difficult to come by and I'm not exactly sure which branches of the R&D tree are important/beneficial at the early stages of the game so I may ask for some general direction there.

Thanks again.
