6 Minutes to Critical

Recommended Posts

Question though: Is it acceptable to have a stack decoupler at the back, which, when the time runs out, falls off with parachutes to mark the spot? If so, can it be a premade bit? Or does the actual car have to stop? And do I have to save anyone?

Okay! So I did the challenge, and ended up with a vessel I'm proud of! I wish I didn't have to use landing gear, and the wheel version will be used less intensively in my other games, but the LG worked very well. I hope you enjoy my submission! (Sorry, no video, my recording software is insanely crap.)

Top Speed: 175 m/s

Avg Speed (estimated): 125 m/s

Total Distance (according to F3): 51,524 m

Time in SPH: 1:14

Welcome to the forums, @aerodis! Nice detailing on the Jag', I especially like the classic enormous spotlamps. Let us know if you have any questions- good luck in your challenges to come!

I'm impressed with how well you got that design to work on the fly, @tsgaerospace. Fine work! The bump at 12:55 had me biting my nails :) . Also, that craft had a mind of its own, you did a good job finding the balance between guiding it and letting it drive as it wanted.

@Ragingdonut Hey, a tricycle! I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to see any in this challenge. They're notoriously difficult to balance for high speed driving, which makes the vehicle more impressive to me! Am I noticing you've splayed the rear wheels a touch for enhanced friction control? I know it's a little late for your run, but to answer your questions in case others have them: The car needs to be able to stop, though parachutes are a fine approach :) . I'd rather not have folk worry about droppable markers- just nip a bit off the distance if you take a mile to slow down! You only need to save the 1 kerbal, though I'll make mention of it if you have multiple kerbals hitch a ride. Again, great job balancing the trike!

thanks, the jump was more like 12:50, but anyways i was looking at jebs expression sitting on an i-beam, 78cm above ground, travelling at 104.2m/s and out of nowhere i was 2 meters above ground! i almost flipped... and i spun out just 3 times!

and while watching my video i noticed why the mk2 design failed: i was controlling from the rotated seat instead of the probe core!

also sorry for the high pitched voice, but the inbuild microphone on the laptop is just really bad...

Hi everyone!

Here's my creation. I made it a long time ago and I decided to modify it just for this 6 minutes challenge.

It's a "reproduction" (it's not 100% accurate) of the Jaguar mk5.

It's top speed is 33 m/s and I manadged to get 17 km away from the KSC. It's maybe not the fastest, but the style is clearly there.

Here's the proof:

that vehicle looks awesome! it must have been a lot of work to construct!

Quite a lot yes. The fun fact is that I made this vehicle two times. The first was done before update 1.0 if i'm not mistaken. After this update some parts changed their textures and my car did not looked like one anymore. So I decided to build it again with other parts like the small truss and solar panels.

For me it was not about winning, but just to make it. So I did.

First try I used large landing gears. Which aren't steerable.

Next try I turned left from the runway. Ocean. I turned back and crashed to the runway bank.

Third try was the charm:
