I think KSP could be the next minecraft

Agreed, it is standing stereotype.

I go to an inner-city comprehensive, and most of the year sevens at my school (sixth grader to America), are mouthbreathers who shout about how good CoD is while playing cracked copies of minecraft.

Did I mention they also mix homophobic slurs and greifing each other into the mix somewhere?

^^ This happens in my Y7 school too! They don't like KSP some like Minecraft and all love CoD

I have seen a lot of games and watched and lot of commentraries and lets plays for tons of games from Simcity to Pokemon to Halo. In all my life only two games left me thinking: "The people who made this are pure genius!" Those games were Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program. So I really think you're right about it being the next big thing.

KSP doesn't have the pure creative appeal of minecraft, and that is a good thing. Pure creativity is generally at odds with fun gameplay. MSpaint and Blender are very good for creativity but not very good for games.

Yeah, I don't think that KSP will become the next MC. Far to many numbers, angles and fancy words. Ever saw another game where the players talked about "oberth-effects", "hohmann-transferorbits", "bi-elliptical transfers" or "thrust-to-weight-ratio". All these thing appeal to the...well, the nerdier fraction of gamers.

You underestimate how many nerdy gamers there actually are. Look how many have already come out of the woodwork and bought KSP at this point in time. I predict it will accelerate exponentially from here.

I'm hoping KSP will get huge, but i don't think it will get as big as Minecraft for a couple of reasons, firstly the subject matter, as wonderful as space is to us there are some people who don't have the patience for it, secondly although fairly easy once understood it is a game that demands the player to invest time learning, and that is an old-school concept that doesn't fly well with many people.

i hope ksp will never get this far as minecraft got, beacuse when i compare minecraft from 1 year ago and when i take a look at it now - its terrible. notch is not even caring about it anymore, because he has to pet his millions in the bank and jeb is not even trying to finish it. he's just adding mods to it without looking at it "because it's selling". Squad has some sort of vision what they want to do. Mojang doesn't, anymore.

and i mean jeb as mojang leader and the main coder, not the famous kerman. i would feel bad comparing the little green hero to the other one.

back in the days, all gamers were considered nerdy. It's really bad when you have to pick through another social structure to reach the people you like to hangout/discuss stuff with.

Yep there is literally nobody else in my school that plays ksp, or has even close to the same interests as me. Almost everyone plays on the xbox, and the two that play on pc are both assholes.

You guys are all thinking the Minecraft community is bad. While it is bad, but it looks like a sugar coated strawberry compared to the Call of Duty community.

...Oh wait, pretty much any of those kids who play minecraft also play COD, too, so if you put the two side by side, I doubt there would be much of a difference, except the COD one, because there would be more profanity. Pretty much the both of them are a spew of immaturity and fart jokes. Call of Duty is turning kids into profanity spewing i-know-everything-about-the-military-because-i-play-cod types and Minecraft is turning them into i-have-nothing-constructive-to-do-with-my-time types, the combination of which is the average american pre-teen.

Just so you know, I do play Minecraft. With all the people saying about the Minecraft community being very immature, I would have to disagree with that. People on the server I go on the most often are mature, and are rarely rude. Also, I happen to play Minecraft on the Mac, and have no Xbox 360, and never plan on playing CoD. I've never been on Minecraft forums, so IDK about how rude they are there. The reason I'm saying this is because not all Minecrafters are immature. ALSO, I do enjoy KSP a lot, and hope it gets tons of popularity. I would hate it if the popularity brings immature people to this forum, but knowing how many mature people are here, those immature people would be banned instantly.

P.S. I have never actually played an FPS game in my whole life.

oh yes, i remember the Tekkit modpack. Patience was required (at least until you got EE working properly with condensers). Theres was some serious technical stuff going on, i can't believe the minecraft community is that bad. I've alwayss played with friends on a selfmade hamachi server. It was quite civil.

I play Minecraft and I am well old, and two of my kids play Minecraft and they are both young but intelligent thinkers. We all enjoy it just the same but they prefer the creative mode whereas I played the survival mode. I must admit I havent been back to it since I found this game, but they are still playing it gradually expanding their own towns of skyscrapers and the like.

I am sure that at least one of my kids (the boy) will get into KSP properly when he gets a bit older, he already has created a spaceship and got into space and he's just 6. I love the fact kids can get into this game and I really hope the devs continue to encourage all ages to get into it. Anything that gets kids interested in space flight, science and especially using their creativity and imagination is very good as far as I am concerned. Far far better than playing mindless shooter games for hours on end. From this point of view both games are excellent.

Probably you could also consider both as 'Classic PC Game' contenders of the future. But the only other real similarity between the two games is they both are sandbox type open ended construction orientated games in which your own creativity keeps you playing.
