wondering about the EVA jetpack

Short of a plugin, I don't think so. IIRC, the jetpack is set to take fuel from an RCS tank attached to the ship. It's only a small amount (the EVA thrusters are pretty weak), but I don't think it can be changed with anything simple like cfg edits.

It doesn't take RCS fuel to refill. Have had successful EVA's with ships that had no RCS on them.

If you're looking for infinite fuel, press ctrl+shift+alt+D. That opens up the debug panel with some cheats.

Scott Manley, szyzyg on Youtube, determined that a hot dog kerbonaut could push a CM along using the jetpack alone from Minmus to the Mun or to Kerbin. All you would need to do is keep an eye on the fuel and when it is low just hop in the module for a refuel.

Here is a rather interesting video he did of Shepfrey Kerman saving the day and using his jetpack to push the CM into a deorbit trajectory. http://youtu.be/Uyh4zNJqexI
