My standard process when putting out a "new and improved" model is to blow up the old model in a video and then the new one is a replacement.

I have an Idea that I'm pretty sure I can get to work.  It's a little bit of a cheat but it's about the only way I can see it actually happening.  It's going to take me a while to get it working though because I have so many other projects on the go.

I think you misunderstand what I mean. When you say a skunktwerks v-wing I mean that skunktwerks is going to be releasing a variant of the v-wing with moving wings.

Oh I know what you're saying but all I'm saying is that I'm going to use the old version in this video and blow it up (just like I do with all of my craft), then introduce the new version in a future video.  You see all my Star Wars story line videos link into one long narrative, so what happens in one video impacts future installments of the saga.

Yes I do that with my own craft.  For example in KSP/Star Wars episode #6 (Y-wing Attack on the Stink Works Base) I shot down the U-Wing.  In the next video (#7 Walker Assault) the pilot is rescued, and in a future episode I will be introducing the updated version of the U-Wing (pictured below).

You can see the new version is a much better design.

I will be doing it with the AT-AT's as well...  Here's the new version, the AT-M6 from The Last Jedi

Nice craft ya got there! I’m not sure but I think the rear legs of the AT-M6 need to be a little shorter. I wish KSP actually had smooth part connections rather than those jarring black lines.

EDIT: nvm the rear legs are fine.

I love it! In that case, I won't take it personally if/when the V-Wing goes down in flames. I'll be cheering its destruction, because as @ShadowGoat mentioned, we are slowly working on a swing-wing version that should be really friggin' cool when we get it to work.

Also, absolutely beautiful work on that new U-Wing. Comparing it to the orthos, you took the visual accuracy waayyyy up, especially on the wing geometry! And I love the little details like the solar panel squadron markers... "Blue Three" sure came out looking sharp!

Today I updated my basic Tie Fighter design on Kerbal-X.  The new craft file has better performance, more firepower, lower part count and an overall better design than the original.  You can download the new file HERE.  I also am working on several new tie and X-Wing variants (all craft are pure stock VTOL replicas).

You could try using solar panels.  This is by no means a very good replica, and its in chibi scale so its way smaller then your TIEs, but if you are having trouble with cockpits solar panels make very good looking windows...
