Deleting KSP_Data folder?

Recommended Posts

I have several copies of my KSP folder, used for different mod set ups and versions, which I then use a batch file to create folder junction to the proper Kerbal Space Program folder before playing. Since I only ever load the 64bit version of KSP, can I delete the KSP_Data folder and leave only the KSP_x64_Data folder? Both those folders are 1.5G in size, and since I have limited space on the SSD, I'd like to remove those folders if they aren't used.

Thanks

Back-up the folder in question, then delete the original. If your game still works you'll have your answer. If it doesn't, restore the back-up and you STILL got your answer.

Really, it is not that hard to figure things like this out for yourself.
(And if you don't have enough HD space to make a back-up simply rename the folder)

@strudo76 It is possible. The x86 and the x64 KSP instances are completely separate and self-contained. In fact, you can also:

  • Delete the original "KSP.exe" binary and the "KSP_data" folder
  • Rename the "KSP_x64.exe" binary and the "KSP_x64_data" folder into just "KSP.exe" and "KSP_data" (replacing the original ones)

And you will have a x64-only version of KSP.
