Minimalistic Mun challenge?

First post and I first have to say I love KSP and I'm hooked!

I've been browsing the Challenges section and from my limited search I didn't find a minimalistic Mun challenge. What I mean is getting to the Mun and landing, then returning back to Kerbin starting from as little parts/weight (stock 0.16) as possible. I've been seeing a lot of videos and most of them seem to be creating huge rockets.

Does this challenge exist?

This challenge has been done twice. However, a third will be needed in 0.17 since the 0.15 version used engines that have since been weakened, and the current one uses the fuel bug.

This was a big thing right around the time of the .14 release. Record is 3 tanks for a found trip, I think.

Yes, 3 tanks was the minimum. It was made by Apotheosist. I flew it to the mun and back myself.

3 tanks!? That's impressive! I can't even imagine it being possible.

This challenge is pointless with the .16 fuel consumption bug. I just made it to the Mun and back with Jeb surviving using only a capsule, small 1m fuel tank, and aerospike, no parachute. The extraordinarily slow ascent/descents took two hours of realtime and 4 beers, but I have video as long as I didn't screw up with CamStudio
