There are multiple ways of getting to space in reality, so here are some.

Space Elevator:

Works by pulling a payload into orbit.

A huge balloon:

Takes you up to the upper atmosphere, until the balloon can no longer rise and bursts, when this happens the pod is deployed and uses thrusters or mini engines to propel it into orbit.

SSTO:

A plane that can go into space.

A massive rail gun:

Rail guns work by having large electromagnets in place to propel a payload into orbit

Rockets:

The obvious answer to space travel, has a large booster that works on liquid fuel and oxidizer to propel a payload into space
