Problems with steam

Recommended Posts

I put a bunch of mods in my KSP game, and I could not delete them without admin perms (Though I could delete individual items, not folders though?) so I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. However, the mods are still there. How do I remove them during downloading, so it is unmodded?

P.S- I am doing this in preparation for Making History, which I plan to buy asap.

My advise is kind of stupid, but I am going to give it anyway.

After the uninstall, reboot, then remove the (now almost empty) KSP folder. If it still requires admin privileges to delete at this point maybe you can have someone help you delete the folder (?). Only then reinstall via Steam.

I  fixed it,but if I have that problem in the future i will do that.

The Steam client should set permissions on any of its items in the "Common" folder to at least grant Modify permissions to non-administrators. They do this to support a lot of broken (no I won't recant that) games that don't properly support Windows non-admin user account permissions (since Windows 2000; sheesh! And this is 2017!)</rant>

Otherwise, right-click on the Common folder, go to Properties, go to Security, then Edit, then add Modify to the "Users" group.

If that doesn't work, go back to Security, then Advanced, then Edit Permissions, and hit "Replace all child object permissions..." and hit OK. This should re-apply the Modify permission you just did a moment ago to all folders inside there.
