[0.16][MechJeb] B-Wing

I warn you, this is the most stupid airframe design of all time. But it can fly.

Now, because it has an unlucky body shape, it can't really have a landing gear. It won't take off from launch clamps, either, because it's extremely unstable at low airspeeds. This is the solution:

I've included MechJeb, because I personally can't make the takeoff manually without going off the runway or crashing horribly. With MechJeb, set the SURF function to 90° heading, 11° pitch, then power up the engines. Discard the launch sled at the end of the runway and watch the ship soar into the sky. When you disable MechJeb (if you dare), be sure to have precision controls on, and make very precise inputs - it will spin everywhere otherwise.

If you can figure out how to land it in one piece, you will certainly earn a +rep from me, as well as fame and glory. I'm pretty sure it's not possible.

Anyway, have fun and don't kill too many Kerbals :)

Make me want to build my own fleet of star wars ships, though I was never a particular fan of the B-wing, because as said, it's a stupid airframe. As a side note, you might have less trouble flying it on its side, which would give you more wings, though being all asymetrical on the vertical might make that impossible.

X-wing should be fairly easy to do, aside from getting the cockpit in the right location, so that one will probably use the largest crew pod to add the nose. Same for the E-wing (don't worry, this one wasn't in any movies). I think an A-wing would be doable with the mid sized cockpit as well (and shame on all of you for forgetting the A-wing :P it had more screen time than the B-wing I think, and one crashing took out the super star destroyer).

A Y-wing would be tricky because it has no wings (A-wing doesn't either, but its much smaller and should be able to make do with pure speed and its stubby little wings), but is quite large.

Yeah, the "actual" B-Wing in the movies folds up the wings and rolls the body 90° to the side to land, while keeping its cockpit level. While this might be possible to do using the Damned Robotics mod, it will certainly be aerodynamically unflyable - it is barely stable in level flight as it is now.

I didn't use MechJeb on it, and it isn't an exact representation, but...

I got bored and made an X-Wing. <_<

Vessel file is attached - it uses stock parts. It's a bit shaky on takeoff, but once it's in the air, it's not too terrible.

The "lasers" are actually landing legs that move into place when you raise the landing gear.
