The Great Transmissions Thread

This topic is for anyone who wants to share or discuss any kind of transmission of mechanical power. It's not for power generating devices, we already have the piston and turbine threads for that. Things that fit are gearboxes, differentials, clutches, chain drives, pseudo fluid couplings, constant velocity joints, your grandpa's clock etc. Okay, brakes too. Mod or stock, doesn't matter.

I had a job at ZF where they build The 8-speed automatic transmission. I worked there for nearly 5 years, only on weekends. It's part of the reason I didn't progress as fast as I should in my studies and i quit the job.
