GoSlash27
From what they were saying, it sounds like the swingarm lock pins actually did release as commanded, just that the contact switches didn't detect it. Maybe somebody tripped over an extension cord? /safety first! "This is Delta Mission Control. We should have an update in the near future". <-- most pointless comment ever... PakledHostage
I haven't had time to read up on the details of this launch, but what's the deal? How big is the launch window? Don't they have a target orbital plane that they are launching into? Presumably it is going into something close to a polar orbit, given that it is launching out of Vandenberg? At what point do they have to scrub until tomorrow? Or does their launch delay tolerance tell us something about their ability to change orbital planes during the mission? GoSlash27
PakledHostage, They don't have a precise launch window. It's just a photo recon sat, so they're not picky about the plane. If they keep dragging their skates, they'll run out of the range safety and weather windows, tho'... Uh-oh. Range is red. They might be scrubbed for the day. PB666
Range defaults to red after a certain period of time, the temp control is probably due to the hold and is work around, but the Redline issue on the swing-arm is still active. Range control is reassessing, its immaterial until they figure out the details on the the swing-arm retract issue. It does look like a scrub. GoSlash27
Yeah, it was the pin release contact switches. They're planning on ignoring the faulty indications and proceeding. Edited January 11, 2018 by GoSlash27
