Flying to Duna...

Recommended Posts

I want to test out my design for my first Duna craft before uploading it to KerbalX. So from what I can understand:

  1. Use the the map and http://ksp.olex.biz/ to estimate the amount of DeltaV
  2. Use http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ to caclulate when to launch

So are there other ways to make it less painful? If not, are there mods, without the need of module manager, that will allow me to reach the launch window quicker and easier?

#2 computes the amount of delta-v as well as when to launch.  If you use #2 there's no need for #1.  There is also a mod version...

I always use the mod.  It's quick and easy and provides all the needed information.  It also interfaces with Kerbal Alarm Clock.

You can use Mechjeb, which will warp forward until there is a decent window and then manage the burn for you.

Once you have done one or two interplanetary transfers manually it gets really tedious and Mechjeb lets you get on with the fun bits of designing and actually doing the mission without the tedious calculations and chancy manual nodes.

as you can see there are lot of options to know the deltaV and/or when to launch.

In any case, using the cheat test menu can make the avaluation of the craft a lot more easier.
