Kerbal Moods?

Recommended Posts

I've got two flights whose Kerbals seem... a bit off. One is a solo fueling rover on Minmus with a single engineer. The other is a science lab/lander, also on Minmus, with a crew of three. Both have been out there for 7+ years at this point.

Maybe I'm just imagining things, but the facial expressions in the crew mini-windows seem a bit more... manic. It's more the animation being jerky/scary, really - screen shots don't really capture the effect.

Are there any consequences for having Kerbals alone for a long time? And more importantly, does it effect their job performance?

Also, are Kerbals randomly generated? I know Jeb and Valentina are the same every game, but is my Trawin Kerman the same as everybody else's Trawin Kerman, or do they have random stats/attributes/professions/genders/etc.?

AFAIK, in stock, there are only 2 things that make any difference to Kerbals:   experience level makes their jobs more or less efficient, and BadS causes cosmetic changes in animations.  It's only if you have a mod like Kerbalism, which gets into psychological health, that long isolation has any effect.  Otherwise, Kerbals are constants without even their stupidity/courage stats being taken into account (only mods mess with those numbers).

The 4 starting Kerbals with orange suits are always the same every game.  Same names, same jobs, same stats, same BadS.  All the other "gray suits" are random.

Think Pilot Kerbals have a different reaction to going fast and low than other professions.

I tried to build  a space shuttle, but was having problem with the gravity turn so I tried launching it horizontally.      Asked Val,  Bill and Bob what they thought of this approach, but got 3 different answers..

I am not sure about that, but in my experience it is mostly their 'stupidity' rating, The stupider your Kerbal is, the less likely they are to realize what you are asking them to do is likely to get them killed.

jeb, bill, bob and val may be the passive all time stayers at your 'new game'

But I've seen soooo many videos with the name "Burberry Kerman"
I had Burberry like 6 times. And that's only adding up all the games I played, no mind the ones I've forgotten...

Anyone else?
