KSP Laggy on High Sierra

Hello.

I wanted to get help with settings to play KSP on my new macbook pro.  The game is SUPER laggy and unplayable despite being on relatively benign graphic settings.  The screen is all jittery and is not smooth in the least bit.  For the sake of ease, I have the standard settings for KSP as it comes after download.  My macbook pro specs:

MacOS High Sierra (v 10.13)

3.5 GHz intel core i7 

16GB Ram

Intel Iris Graphics 650 1536 MB

Retina Macbook display 13.3 inch (2560 x 1600)

LG 27" 5K monitor

 

Doesn't matter what monitor I run it on I have the same problems.  I used to have an old iMac from 2010 that was not as powerful as this, but had no issues running the game, hence my frustration!  I have tried to re-install multiple times to no avail.  Please help if you can!
