Pod Launcher (on-ground satellite/scout car Launcher)

Recommended Posts

Gentlemen,

My first .craft upload:

THE POD LAUNCHER

This is a rocket used for bringing a pretty fast car (156 m/s) to every place on kerbin. i called it the pod launcher.

The car can be used as a on-ground satellite (with the Remotetech addon) or scouting car. it has plenty of fuel and a high top speed and handles nice. The only addon it uses is novapunch remix.

Launching it is very easy, it has enough fuel to get to every place on Kerbin. The trick to get the car as accurate as possible is to get a high apoapsis.

around 65000 - 70000 meters, go to the next stage to decouple from the heavy engine.

when entering the thicker atmosphere, go to the next stage. now you will decouple from the fuel tanks, the wings and the ASAS. you will also see that the tube (with the pod in it) will turn around 180 degrees. this is good because the pod will come out that way.

after turning 180 degrees, go to the next stage to get the pod out of the tube. the command pod should look up like this:

When the altitude is around 3000 - 4000, deploy the parachutes. The pod will hit the ground with 10 m/s. After that, press spacebar 2 times to decouple from the parashute and the pod. the car will fall down, but will stand straight. now be careful, make sure your throttle is set to 0. in the next stage the side thrusters will activate. give slowly throttle till the car will fall on it's wheels and stop giving throttle. now, press spacebar again to decouple from the side thrusters and enable the main car engine. give a bit throttle to get away from the pod and you are free to drive :D.

BE SURE TO TAP THE BRAKE KEY, NOT HOLD IT. Or else the car will flip and crash.

ALSO, BE SURE TO NOT GIVE THRUST/HAVE MUCH SPEED WHEN CORNERING. same reason as above.

Tnx for reading! :D
