i was playing the demo for about a week, and i just bought the "full" game. however, i noticed that there is no option to use 2x time compression while in atmosphere. anyone know why it was removed?

It is also planned for the next update.

* Physical Timewarp Modes: An alternate time-warp mode where you can accelerate time to 2x, 3x and 4x without putting the sim on rails.

Assigned to: HarvesteR

Status: Planning

You can read whats planned for the next release here: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/15757-KSP-0-17-Update

Even if something is planned it does not mean it's a sure thing it will be implemented though.

And welcome to the forums :)

It caused some wacky physics while in E.V.A. So a simple fix was just removing it.. They are working up to 10x time warp with the physics engine on, not like now that entities are locket to their path and the physics doesn't affect them..

It caused wacky physics no matter what you were doing. Stable craft would suddenly fall apart for no reason, a craft would start to sink into itself under gravity's weight on the launchpad, etc.

Yeah, watching craft compress and shrink under 2x warp was really bizarre.

Hehe. I tried it once. Managed to make a craft compress into an absolutely flat pancake whilst on the pad by switching between 5x and 2x many times. Then, I launched, and half of it just got launched as though on a spring, while the other half exploded xD

That's what happened to me. Time warping on the launch pad, usually so another orbit would be timed closer for a rendezvous, would compress my ship and then all kinds of bad things would happen on launch.
