Help: I'm looking for a bug... to hold a key for me

Okay, this might be the strangest question I've ever asked. Earlier today, I landed Tosh's gigantic eight-wheeled truck on the Mun with a three-kerbal pod in the back. Since I'm full of terrible ideas, I thought it would be fun to try and circumnavigate the Mun in that beast. However, I'm worried about the life expectancy of my "I" key, especially if I recruit the help of a rock to hold it down for a few hours. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a bug in which a key gets stuck down in-game without it actually being pressed. Alternatively, is there a way to map that key to the throttle axis on my joystick or something, so that I could leave it on without any crazy stuff happening to my keyboard? Thanks.

Also, sorry if this in the wrong forum, it took me a while to decide which one to put it in.

LOL :)

I've no bug for ya, but if you wait a week or two -- you'll get dat truck with cruise control. I have it next in my release list))

And in the meantime, there must be some program capable of "holding a key", one of those used to cheat... does anybody know one?

UPD. This topic suits neither to How-To nor to Addon Requests... so let it stay where it is)). I'll just rename it a bit.

UPD2. Upon reading OP for second time...

is there a way to map that key to the throttle axis on my joystick or something, so that I could leave it on without any crazy stuff happening to my keyboard?
In Carts v.133 "move forward/backward" actions are already mapped to "translate up/down" axes. Edited by Tosh

You're looking for a bug to hold down a key? Try a stick insect, they're good. Ants are too small and light, and spiders are scary.

Although, a rhinoceros beetle has got this badass claw, could be useful for key-holding, but they're harder to come by.

As a fellow Munar Circumnavigator, I'd say you don't want to hold the I key down the whole time. The mun going to unexpectedly throw significant drops in front of you as you drive through the Munar night, and a flipped vehicle can be pretty inconvenient if your last Quicksave wasn't recent.

I'd also recommend dropping stations and waypoints every 30 degrees of longitude (about every 100km) , giving you something to drive towards so you don't drift too far off course, and natural stopping points when you want to go and do something else.

Thanks for the advice! Once the night side rolls around, I'm probably going to watch my cart pretty intently, and stop often for saving. And luckily I have a few pieces of junk scattered roughly equatorial, but I might need some landers to come down as beacons...

Man, this is going to be one heck of an undertaking!
