I haven't heard any news on that front. I wouldn't discount the possibility of a Polish-language port, though: while French and Portuguese have large audiences outside France/Portugal, the potential Italian-speaking audience doesn't seem all that much larger than the Polish-speaking one. Militating against that is that, AFAIK, Polish isn't a Romance-family language, and it may be more difficult to translate to a non-Romance language.

Is the Polish language very similar to Russian? They might be able to start a translation effort from there.

No. 

Gramatically, somewhat. Occasionally words are similar, most likely because of geographical proximity. And they’re both slavic languages. That’s mostly where the similarities end. Different alphabets, too. (I still get confused by the correct usage/pronunciation of some of the Polish Alphabet.... I blame lack of use and my calculus teacher.)

I get where you’re comimg from though - it would likely be easier for a Russian-speaker to translate something to Polish than it would be for an English-speaker or Spanish-speaker. Likewise it would be easier to translate from Russian to Polish. Better to start with the game’s native language though, so as to avoid any three or four or five step lost in translation issues.

Anyway, as far as I know there is unofficial polish translation, I believe from polish forums, but I think I've seen it also in CKAN?
