As a kid I was more interested in space and not necessarily science fiction (unless it had to do with space). I certainly remember Space 1999 though, but I was quite young then and wasn't able to watch enough of it, and later it was a bit too hokey looking. Probably the reason I never found other SFey shows was that we were in an area without cable TV, so our choices were very limited. By the time Transformers was available to me I was "too old" for that kinda thing, and would rather fire up the Colecovision.

There's good anime and bad anime. Personally, I like Gundam a lot. Mainly the UC timeline. Sure, it's a show about mecha combat and stuff, but it's more realistic than it has any obligation to be, so it gets bonus points. Also... it's pretty dark. One of the directors is "Kill 'em All" himself, so that isn't all that surprising...

Well, I haven't seen much anime, sadly, but what I've seen, I've liked.  My impression is that I've been extraordinarily lucky to see really good series (e.g., Planetes and Cowboy Bebop).

And but anyway, I'm excited for the premiere of Steins;Gate 0 later this week.

The story is bleak, but then I don't care of such stuffs.
