Stuck in 300km orbit with no fuel. Help!

I vote for solution B. In career mode, rescue missions are pretty common.

Just a word of caution if you have to get out and push. Make sure you're not outside pushing when the ship changes spheres of influence. I did that yesterday and the ship ended up in a retrograde orbit and I had to send another ship to go and grab the ship and the Kerbal who were now orbiting in totally different directions.

Say what? Could you post a picture? That sounds impossible. If it really works that badly, I need to file a bug report.

So they are within physics range of each other at the SOI crossing, but the one that has focus ends up in the correct orbit, and the one that does not have focus ends up retrograde?

Yep, the Kerbal stays in the same orbit, the ship suddenly departs. Doesn't always do it and it's a pretty edge case but it was a little odd to encounter.

 

ETA- I also just tried it in an old 1.0.5 game with the same result so it's not a new problem.
