question about ckan

Recommended Posts

so, i was trying to figure out some mod conflicts a little bit ago and unninstalled EVE, SVE and SVE-hi resolution textures using ckan, then reinstalled them one by one.

and now my water looks stock, i go back to ckan and see if i had forgotten one or the other. and when i click on the mods in ckan, under their respective relationships tabs theirs some weird things listed that werent their before.

under stock visual enhancements theirs
SVE-textures(virtual)
(conflict)EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements-config(virtual)

under Stock Visual Enhancements-High Res Textures theirs
(conflict) SVE-Textures (virtual)

and under Environmental Visual Enhancements theirs
EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements-Config (virtual)
(conflict)Environmental Visual Enhancements-Low Resolution 7-4  <------this one is red

what do these mean? and is that why my water is stock again?

Are you sure it wasn't Scatterer, those mods do not touch oceans.

SVE adds realistic clouds and atmosphere configs for EVE to use.

SVE Hi-res textures pack provides the textures for EVE clouds, city lights and does not contain any ocean textures.

EVE is the module that implements and runs the SVE configs and textures in the game.

Scatterer does this for Oceans

  • Ocean shaders (with transparency, sky reflections, foam, refractions and underwater effects)

It may be the clouds and atmosphere covered your oceans to make it look better from afar, but did not make any underlying changes to the oceans.

Ocean changes without Scatterer.

Admittedly they are weird things, but they were there before. I'll try to explain what they mean.

This means that Stock Visual Enhancements is a configuration package for EVE, and you can't install it alongside other different configuration packages for EVE.

This means that this package contains textures for SVE, and you can't install it alongside other different packages with textures for SVE.

The first part means that EVE recommends installing an EVE configuration package.

The second part means that EVE was handled differently by CKAN up until KSP 1.0.4 (configuration bundled with the plugin rather than split out into separate modules), and you can't install the current package alongside the old style package.

ALRIGHTY!

Sorry. Nearly had the same problem a little while ago. Happy I can help others. :P

If you want to use SVE, you have to install EVE. You however cannot install EVE's configs. Only the mod itself.

SVE needs the mod, and then one of its configs. Low, Medium or High. You will have to pick one, as more than that causes extreme krakening for obvious reasons.

I have recenty discovered that installing SVE with Scatterer is apparently a bad idea atm. Scatterer is somewhat out of date, and for some reason this causes SVE to go absolutely bonkers.

Seeing as Scatterer has been at least partially incorporated into SVE, you can skip it for the time being.

In this case I would suggest consulting SVE's page;

TO INSTALL:

If you can find a way to get CKAN to comply with all that, good for you! Otherwise you going to have to install manually.
