Kerbal/Kerbin (whatever they're called) floating away from ship, jetpack not working!

Newbie here. How do I work the jetpack feature? I pressed W, A, S, D, Q, and E and they did nothing. I dismounted the ladder and started slowly flying away. (This is the best, closest I've ever gotten to landing on the moon. Once I was about 10 Kerbal-creature person thing-lengths away (I'd say like 5-10 meters) I freaked out and went back to the space center then closed the game. It's still there in that format. Please help me get Jebadiah back to safety ;.;, I have no idea what to do D:

Of course I find out about this now. Missed it when I looked at the controls on the wiki.

My first Kerbal to enter Kerbol orbit decided to step out of his capsule after 50 days. I accidentally told him to let go, and he sloooooowly fell away from the capsule over the course of the next two weeks. Somehow he made it back in time for the next launch, even though his old capsule still orbits Kerbol.

Kerman = Inhabitant of Kerbin

This I did not know' date=' I thought it was Kerbals!

I thought that Kerman was the clan of Kerbals with a preference for spaceflight?

That what I thought too. And that their cavalier approach to space ship design had wiped out the other clans!

Language is a matter of consensus anyways (unless your French)

*did not understand*

I tend to say Kerbals, I always thought Kerman was more like a family name (or clan, or whatever) (and it would feel strange to add 'Kerman' at the end of each of their names if it was just like 'human').

Yes, that seems odd.

So it would be; Bob Human, Bill Human and Jebediah Human?

Does all naming have to follow the K rule? After all we are Humans from Earth, we're not Earthians or Earthans, I know that works with Mars -> Martians, but this is exactly why linguists and computer-scientists don't mix well at parties. Language rules don't always scale as you want them to!

[in other news - A tragic accident occurred when several inhabitants of the planet Pluto where loaded into a Nuclear reactor due to a naming error. The Plutonians are furious]

Controls for EVA while grabbing ship:

F: Grab on ship/board (cannot grab while jetpack is in use)

Space: Let go

W: Move up

S: Move down

Controls for jetpack EVA:

R: Activate jetpack

SHIFT: Go up

CTRL: Go down

W: Translate forward

S: Translate backward

A: Translate to the left (though it was for rotating, no it's not)

D: Translate to the right

Walking on the ship is pretty glitchy since I've tried to do it and the Kerbal just acted like it was falling and I couldn't control it. So don't EVA on top of your ship if you only have 1 crew member.

Edited rotation, A and D are actually for translation
