3 way adaptor question

Recommended Posts

I am using a 3 way adaptor on a vehicle to launch 3 satellites in space. The problem is the satellites do not all go on the adaptor. The first satellite attaches just fine, But the other 2 can not. I can't figure out why they won't go on. I have seen videos of 3 satellites attached but they don't show how it was done. The other problem is that the satellite I made is saved in subassembly but I can't save it with the probe core on it, so I need to add it to the other 2 after, but it won't let me attach it. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I can attach the extra satellite upside down, but that isn't what I want.

You can work around this problem:

1) Build the probe as a separate craft (you probably did that)
2) Add an additional decoupler at the bottom of your engine
3) Use the 're-root' function to declare the new decoupler as your root part
4) Pickup your whole probe without the new root part and save it as subassembly.

This one is strange...do you try to attach them one by one or via symmetry? Whatever it is, try the other option :D

Thanks, it worked like a charm.

I tried both and the satellite just won't attach.

EDIT: So when I set the decoupler to the root part, the satellite will now set on the adapter as I would like. Thank you for the help.

Hm...try to press 'alt' when you want to attach them. This will temp. disable surface attachment, maybe it helps.

Do you always add a new subassembly or do you copy the attached probe? If you don't know how to copy parts: Hold down 'alt' and left click the part(s) on your craft you want to copy. You should be able to copy the whole attached probe incl. the decoupler. The thing about copies is: They connect just the part which is originally connect, so probably a copy will work better than a new subassembly.
