having issues making my first part

hi there everyone,

i've been playing this game for a while now and i really want to get into the modding side of things, i've made a basic model in blender and have attempted to import the file into ksp via unity but something keeps going wrong and when i try to open it in ksp the object is invisible, so before i bother to upload anything i was wondering if anyone knew of (or feel like creating) some good tutorials on all of the steps from exporting from blender to playing it in ksp. i have looked around but i can't really find anything that explains how to do it in any amount of detail.

Please help as i really want to be part of the modding community! :)

There are stickies in the modeling and texturing section.

I suggest you have a look at the complete blender tutorial there first.

Its a excellent tutorial for beginners to KSP modding.

In case you're incapable to find the sticky on top of the page here is a link ;D

Hi, thanks for the help, i did find this tutorial but i am so used to following tutorials on youtube and narrate it, i can't seem to find one like that so i guess i'll have to follow the written version :P

one thing i dont really understand tho, there are tutorials in which it says you have to import things into unity...so why would you do this if you could do it all in blender ?

Unity is needed for parts with airlocks and ladders. You can't do that with blender alone.

Also, doing it in Unity gives a modder more things to work with visually, like lightmaps, bumpmaps and the heating effects of engines.
