Rescue multiple kerbals at once

Recommended Posts

We all know the drill in career mode: if you want to recruit more kerbals you either pay a significant amount of money or you rely on rescue contracts. The latter means you grind through the same mission over and over again to increase your rooster. How about if there were contracts to rescue abandoned pods which contain multiple kerbals? It increases your rooster, it's less grind and it may or may not require to recover the pod, increasing the difficulty a bit.

Not a bad idea at all!

To avoid it being over powered they should tend to be in more complicated orbits, that are either polar, or highly elliptical, etc... Something more challenging to rendezvous with.

Rescuing tourists could also be fun? It wouldn't add to your roster but it might be a nice change of pace to add to the contracts.

Putting multiple ones in the same contract would be good, but they shouldn't be required to be returned in the same ship (but no rule against it.)

The pay and gained reputation should diminish with repeated missions of the same basic difficulty (especially reputation gains.)  The more difficult the mission, the more reputation and pay earned.   In fact, a difficulty level of "Routine" needs to be added for missions that is just a dash and no stars.    Missions like that grant very little to no reputation (0-2 points), little to no science and have funds low enough that hard players will find it near impossible to gain funds by doing the missions.

Rescuing tourists or other Kerbals not to be added to the roster would be great.  It would provide another way to provide for more rescue missions without disrupting balance.

Honestly, I think there should be more rescue missions anyway.  I don't think highly eccentric or insanely high altitude ideal, but allowing the orbits to have appoapsis up to the 500km-1Mm range would make it fun.   Maximum eccentricity should be around 0.5, which is fairly eccentric.  There should also be some inclination (a range of 15 degrees in either direction from zero) to make things more interesting as well.   This range would be within reasonable manned operation range.

Similarly there should be rescue missions from the Mun and Minmus quit frequently once you get to the point where you have made it there.

A bigger variety of contracts with a bigger variety of rewards across the board is needed, especially in rescue operations.

And the ability to end the contract once you rescue the kerbal there: Suppose you have bases or stations in Mun or Minmus. You rescue kerbals there and, instead of using them in those bases/stations inmediately, you have to first return them to the KSC or you'll have the contract permanently open
