I'm not supposed to talk about it for another 8 hours or so, but...OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAMN

I'm requesting a lock on this thread until then. Just check out the link.

Ok, some thoughts. Spoilers aplenty! Don't open if you have yet to play it!

Spoiler

First off, Undertale was a masterpiece of storytelling and this seems to be of the same caliber, probably with even deeper rabbit holes than Undertale. We can only assume that if something is there to be noticed, there is definitely a story behind it.

Rouxls Kaard is some kind of "rad" version of Gaster. When he winks, his face looks very much like the Mystery Man's. Also, his smile is blue. He has similar teleportation powers to Sans.

Asriel is somehow alive, as is Chara/Kris. I think this may be some kind of timeline where they succeeded in destroying the Barrier as kids, but that leaves some questions. It seems Alphys may still have created the amalgamates, as there are references to them in places (possibly including the bowl of milk Alphys leaves out). Mettaton also exists. None of the characters we bring together in Undertale know each other, though - suggesting that those events never occured.

And the music. Not only is it spectacular, it is again a significant indicator of the story. Gaster's theme is intertwined subtly in many pieces, particularly those of the Dark World people (skeletons, anyone?) The mus_smile sound appears in numerous places, too. Many of the themes seem similar to those from the original game, but they are not. Anagrams seem to be a big theme in this game (series?) and I think that some of the songs may be original themes with the notes scrambled or reversed - a musical anagram. I will analyze the soundtrack later.

Sans seems to know a little bit about what's going on. Maybe during the time after we complete a Pacifist run, he figures out how to "go back" to this timeline. He has had three years.

The thing with the soul at the end... :o In the beginning we create a "vessel" for the soul, and artificially created vessels seem to have a tendency to be unruly, as we saw with Flowey. Maybe this is another case like that.

Asgore has some special colored flowers in his care...I think these will be important later.

Lastly, the animations are more awesome than ever before. The game looks great.

So much stuff in this game...this will be quite a ride.

Never played undertale (*gasp I know*), so I'm kinda jumping into this blind. But playing this for a short while it seems quite intriguing (not nearly finished yet)

I think I should go and play Undertale as well, spend some allowance on getting it.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts after finishing both!
