mod suggestion - tracking station vessel renamer

Have you ever wanted to change the name or type of several vessels or many after they have been launched, but hate having to switch to each one individually?

Would it be possible to write a mod that allows a player to select the vessel in the tracking station and rename it and change its type without having to switch to it?

I have many flights and often forget to rename ships.  Switching to each one is tedious and the load times make it very time consuming and quit frankly annoying.

Can't you already do this in the tracking station?  You used to be able to.

You can already do this in the tracking station, but it's a "secret" feature. You have to select the vessel from the tracking station list, then click on the little info button in the toolbar in the lower-right, then click on the vessel name, or something like that.

Or you could use Tracking Station Evolved, where the button to change the vessel name and type is not hidden at all.

It would be REALLY handy if there was some way to rename vessels from the tracking station without having to go "fly" the vessel & find whatever pod piece & right click on it & go into the dialog from there.

As it happens, someone just made the same suggestion recently, so merging this post over there.

Also, FYI, the game has already had this feature for years - - it's just not very discoverable. Read up in this thread a bit for details.
