A good chuckle

The ship is called the "Shinra Mark XVIIC", which from the OP I must assume refers to the company Shinra in Final Fantasy 7 (the main bad guys). There is a rocket in this game, and I must assume this is meant to be a replica of it, although if so, it is a poor replica. Final fantasy games are available for playstation, so I must assume this was what the OP referred to.

Note, the ships name only appears briefly twice, at about 4:00 and 4:30 when he is in map mode, so this was not at all clear: Your confusion is justified.

I have never played final fantasy on playstation personally, as PC is much more versatile, but FF7 (PC version!) still stands to me as one of the best games of all time.

Nope, it's a reference to Metal Gear Solid 3. At one point in the game you must climb out of an underground area up an extremely long ladder, it took long enough for that entire song to play. In fact I am sure the audio was ripped directly from a recording of someone making the climb.

The climb was so absurdly long many people referred to is as "The Ladder Boss".

I found a video of the ladder boss on youtube. It took the guy like 2 and half minutes to climb that stupid ladder. What a dumb idea for a game..

Many things in MGS, including the ladder climb, are done purely to set the tone, or emphasize recent events. Just like a novel where much of the content is written purely to set an emotional tone of a character or scene rather than to forward the plot.

Still... LONG LADDER IS LONG...
