Supply pod docking with my Kerbal Space Station

After watching a

it inspired me to do something similar in KSP. I'm sure others have done it before in different ways but here's my version using the Damned Robotics claws in perhaps in a different way. I'm quite happy how it turned out and have sharpened my docking skill for future version of KSP where there is true docking. The only problem is if the clamps lock in to hard the supply pod falls apart. Also the spacing of the clamps might be a little big for a better lock.

Nicely done. You should install some flood lights similar to the ones the ISS uses during night-time docking sessions :)

Done! Thanks for the suggestion. It looks pretty nice with the flood light and you're right it's a little easier during night time docking.

Here's a newer version with the flood light and a more rigid platform for the clamps. I managed to dock where the supply docking port and the KSS docking port look pretty flush.

Are the solar panels part of Damned Robotics?

The solar panels are from the Kosmos Spacecraft Design Bureau.

Awesome job ! I tried to remake your docking claw and it worked.. on Kerbin. Next step: making a space station, send it into in space, use mechjeb, send a ship and rendezvous with the space station (hardest thing..).

I think it will take about 4 hours to do that.

I was right.. 4 hours took to build the space station, launch it, build a ship, launch it, rendezvous, and trying to dock ( i spent one hour trying to dock.. then i caught the ship with the claw and the capsule decoupled from the rest of the ship.. at least i managed to save the crew ( i had some crew tanks on the space station ).

I will try later to dock with another ship.

Hmm.. I should edit the docking claw system . Maybe with Hydraulic will work better.
