Free Screen recorder?

Does anyone here know of a good free screen recorder that has an unlimited length for recording? And it would be preferred if it doesn't have a water marks but it doesn't have to not have it. what do you guys use?

I'd use FRAPS, personally. You will also likely want a video editor and plenty of space.

They have a free version that still works, I thought.

Camstudio I have also used to good effect, its also free and not gimped.

Camstudio got some votes here, and Camtasia Studio 7. Don't know is Camtasia Studio is free.

I would use Bandicam, when it gets close to 10 minutes I pause the video for a few seconds don't talk and record more, so it acts like there was no delay.

Camtasia Studio 8 has a free trial, but its only lasts 30 days.

Does it work with windows 7? And does it have a time limit/watermarks?

Camstudio works on my copy of windows 7 64 bit. Mine can record indefinitely but it chokes on more than 10 minutes of video. Just errors out and loses it all. I'd do my videos in multiple 10 minute clips and edit them together though.

Fraps, the free version slaps up a little ad at the top of the screen and doesn't allow compressed videos, but it's still worth it. (Just convert the AVIs with Handbrake.) The paid version is highly recommended if you can eventually afford it.

This should probably have been posted to Off-Topic, and also, have you tried VLC?

It has the ability to capture the desktop (open capture device then select Desktop in Capture Mode) and can save or stream the screen.

There is no limit aside from your available hard drive space I think, and no watermark, VLC is free software.

I suggest Bandicam. its good. there IS a watermark, but its not laggy and no time limit

Camtasia made ks laggy. Bandicam will be fine for now.
