Need help with Large SSTO craft

Recommended Posts

Hello.

before we get started thank you for all the support on rocket cars. I managed to make one go up to 275 M/S and not crash.

ok here’s one problem I have, I can’t make large SSTO craft very well. Best I made was a mid sized MK2  SSTO capable of going to orbit and coming back again. That went ok (if you cound a few parts blowing up and 1 of the 2 kerbals surviving). If you have any suggestions on large SSTO craft I’m open. The larger the better, also moar boosters.

This thread has been moved to the Gameplay Questions section of the forum where this question will get some helpful eyes on it.

I assume you are talking about SSTO spaceplanes here.

If so, they are tricky (but very fun) beasts to master.  There are untold numbers of discussions about how to build them and how to fly them.

Good luck.

Happy landings!

How big does it need to be? And what do you mean by SSTO? I'm very sure you mean a space plane with at least R.A.P.I.E.R.S. or Whiplash. If it is just SSTO you can alsmo make SSTO rockets. They're heavier, have less payload fraction to orbit but are faster to operate, less part count (often)
But I'm sure you mean space planes, because they're cooler?

Here's my biggest Rapier based cargo SSTO that can haul 1400Ton to LKO and carry 7.5m wide, 7.5m high and 50m long payloads.

Read the instructions on the page carefully as it requires to be piloted properly.

Here's the version without the fairing if you want to carry stuff with little drag (mainly fuel tanks, engines or another rocket or plane)
