Landing skid

Recommended Posts

It would be nice to have a landing skid part which would have high durability and some reasonable amount of constan braking force but would not roll or turn like a wheel. Perhaps even a slider for braking force.

I would agree, especially since it is realistic seeing as the X-15 and Belle X-1 both utilized skids to land so it's definitely in the space spectrum but the issue is KSP's physics. Parts are so jittery and friction isn't handled well, as we can see with wheels as is. Though with work, it could be feasible.

It would be a cool lightweight early landing gear part good for early career SSTO's.

The greatest culprit with early career SSTO's is that the LY-01 and LY-05 overheat to quickly and a heat resistant skid would fill in that gap.
